37 feels good.
Hard to remember exactly what turning 36 felt like—but I’m pretty sure I feel better now than I did then. Stronger, more energized, and more grounded.
Here’s what worked for me over the past year:
– Prioritized sleep: I aim for 7–7.5 hours a night (still working on hitting 8 consistently).
– Zero alcohol: Over a year alcohol-free and not looking back.
– Consistent weight training: Lifting 4–5 days a week.
– Walking more: In addition to workouts, I walk 2–3 miles daily.
– Weekly yoga: Just 15 minutes of stretching/restorative yoga makes a huge difference.
– Cold tub + sauna: At least once a week. Great for recovery and mental clarity.
– Protein-focused nutrition: No strict diet, but I track protein (150–175g/day) and cut back on carbs.
– Hydration: Especially in the morning. Big game-changer.
– Nature time: I intentionally get outside with the family on weekends. One of the most underrated wellness habits.
– Sunlight exposure: I stay mindful of it, especially during Michigan’s dark winter months. It’s also a big reason we spend time in Florida during that stretch.
Nothing extreme. Just small, consistent habits that helped me feel better than I have in years.
